A sneak peek into my textile collection...
I have been non-stop creating textiles for my soon-to-be-launched online store and also a tradeshow in June where I will exhibit my designs in Las Vegas. So I decided to share with you one of my prints - this one is black and white, very organic and it is called Fogareu.
How do you like it?
I prefer to show my designs applied on clothing or on upholstery so the image above is my own sketch of a kimono - it is pretty much my dream dress right now! Well I happen to be obsessed about kimono-inspired dresses... and I am actually developing a whole collection of prints that are very asian inspired - they will be available as fabrics, pillow covers and wallpapers - to be done and revealed soon!
And here is some of my inspiration...
It has always been a dream of mine to visit Japan and India but everytime I have money for a trip I come home to see my family in Brazil so now I am dwelling if instead of going to Paris maybe I should book a visit to Japan and India - not only because it is a dream trip but also to get inspiration for my designs. Well not to mention that I also want to meditate at my ashram in Bangalore (see it here). Not sure if it is a good idea with all the sad happenings of the past months, I wonder how it is safe or even appropriate to book a trip right now... but I was thinking maybe on the first quarter of 2012...
Anyone has any tips? Have you been to Japan or India?

Love the sketch. How exciting, can't wait to see what the collection looks like :)
ReplyDeleteThat is gorgeous! I love the idea of a kimono inspired dress. I've not been to either Japan or India, but they are on my never-ending list of places to go! Have a wonderful weekend...even though it is raining in Rio. :(

I would love to visit Japan. I'm so fascinated by their culture, lifestyle, by their cinema (I'm a big classic movie fan). I do love your kimono sketch and your inspiration, I am so curious about your entire collection. I can't wait to see more. Hope you have a great weekend! :) Ada

ReplyDeleteI've never been to Japan or Asia for that matter but I've heard it is just beautiful. If it is a dream of yours, don't put it off. You don't want to live your life with regrets.

Never been to India or Japan, but my best friend has been to India and he told me it was beautiful, but in his life he never saw and inhaled so much dust :). It's all I can tell you.
ReplyDeleteBut I was in Paris, 2 times and it's perfection on Earth, if you don't mind the french :)).
You are the perfect illustrator. What markers do you use? I want to wear that kimono! Thanks for sharing the images and drop by me too, soon.

awesome design! it looks amazing :)
ReplyDeletei haven't been to either place, but my friend taught english in japan (near Tokyo) and another of my friends is from india, so she visits a looot. apparently there are a lot of monkeys there.. just like we have a ton of squirrels in ny! i thought that was funny.
oh! and i forgot! CA to NY would be sooo great. I loved going the southern route (route 66) but i think going through the middle (like utah and colorado area) would also be amazing. my favorite parts were the grand canyon, santa fe -new mexico, st. louis- missouri. i didn't get to see this, but White Sands National Monument is in souther NM and i heard it's amazing.
ReplyDeleteif i could have, i would have spent more time at the grand canyon.. at least 2 days. sooo amazing. let me know if you have any questions about the trip! :)
Wow you are amazing and so talented! Love your design! I wish you all the best success in your textile business! You are so creative! Thanks for sharing with all of us a peek into your work :)

You are so talented and I am incredibly glad to have found your blog! :) When I was in India I spent 80% of my time awake going through fabrics and 20% eating ^^ I went down there with a large backpack and came back with two extra huge suitcases filled with textiles! There were shops absolutely everywhere and they have the most wonderful tradition where they sit you down, give you a cup of tea and show you everything you want to look at. They have incredible knowledge of the origin and the details of the fabric and they are tireless in serving you. I have never been to Japan, but I'm sure they have similar traditions there. I can imagine however that India and Japan specializes in different kinds of fabrics. But everything about India is magic :) Can't wait to go there again someday soon to do some furniture shopping ^^ Have a wonderful Monday :D xxx
ReplyDeleteso excited for you! it looks fantastic. I can't wait to see it all...hugs
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous! I love black and white so I am of course drawn to this right away! And kimonos are one of my favorites! I think you will do great at the show in Vegas! When are you going I may be in vegas in June as well maybe we could meet up! xo -Taj
ReplyDeleteYou are so blessed that you have the money for trips like that. For me a trip to Brazil would be an amazing vacation, I've known several people who grew up in Brazil and they're amazingly positive and energetic people. If you do decide to travel then my vote is for Japan. I'd love to see the pictures you'd take. I hope to take some of my own in about 8 years.
